__Shirley's Wonderful Baby__, written by Valiska Gregory. This book is great for 4 year olds to 4th grade. I use it for young children storytime and they always get it. I use it for older students to teach the element of character in a story. Shirley and the baby sitter are great characters.

__My Lucky Day__, by Keiko Kasza. I use this book for grades 1-3. It's a great book to use for teaching story elements - character, problem, events as attempts to a solution, solution, and resolution. High interest and great for practicing retell, too!
