Teacher-Librarian Blogs (and a few others)

Trish Wade's "Eatons Hill State School Library" http://ehsslibrary.edublogs.org/ This is a space for students, staff and parents at the Australian primary school (students aged 5 to 12)to share opinions about what they are reading.

Frances Jacobson Harris's Gargoyle's Loose In the Library: http://www.uni.uiuc.edu/library/blog

The audience for this blog is my students (and anyone else who's interested). In other words, it ain't a place for serious professional pondering. I get to promote my library and be a bit wacky.

Livingston High School Reading Blog http://lhsblog.edublogs.org/

For students and staff to post book reviews, have discussions about literature, and publish original works. It is still in its infancy but the English teachers are buying into it and it should be going strong by April '06.

Tony Doyle, Librarian

Livingston High School

Livingston, CA

Read Write Think Repeat http://library.bigbadwolf.org

This is a book discussion blog that is open to anyone. So far I've got one teacher who is using it with his students. Quality of writing is so-so, ideas behind the writing are pretty good!

Consider starting a blog to support/promote your state book award program. This is a great way for students to share their opinions and write for an authentic audience. For an example, visit Indiana's Young Hoosier Book Award blog @ http://www.younghoosier.blogspot.com.

This is my semi-weekly new blog that keeps my students, their parents, and teachers updated on what is happening in the library and/or school. One of my students even started his own after seeing this!
